Grade 5A

Hello and welcome to 5A from Mr. O'Donnell. I grew up here in northern New Jersey and I am a proud product of Catholic school education; St. Peter's Prep High School and St. Peter's University. I'm a New Jersey certified Math Teacher, and I have taught Math at every grade from 5 through High School. I'm very happy to be with you here at Notre Dame Academy.

   Grade 5 and Grade 6 will both begin a focus on Geometry. 
Lessons (appropriate for each grade) will include :
* identification and categorization of polygons 
* Area and Perimeter of various Polygons 
* Area and Circumference of circles
* Surface Area and Volume of 3d objects such as Prisms, Pyramids, and Cylinders
* angles, lines segments and rays
* Algebraic connections to Geometry
* Problem Solving with all of the above
